Base Material

FR-4 is the most popular substrate material for rigid PCBs.

Flex PCBs utilize a thin, flexible polymer film as the substrate for the circuitry. Flex PCBs reduce space consumption, and have lower weight.

Aluminum/copper core boards have better heat dissipation and thermal transfer than standard FR-4 constructions.

Note: For Aluminum/Copper core boards, the min drill size is 1.0mm, and min slot width is 1.6mm.

Rogers/Teflon PCBs have excellent dielectric properties and minimal resistance. They are generally used in high-speed, high-frequency circuitry applications.

Layers

The number of copper layers in your PCB is defined as its layer count. A PCB with a single copper layer is termed a 1-layer PCB.

Note:

1. A 1-layer PCB typically features solder mask on one side only. For solder mask on both sides, please order a 2-layer PCB.

2. For PCB designs with an odd layer count, such as 3 or 5 layers, fabrication will be adjusted to the next even layer count, i.e., 4 or 6 layers. Please select the appropriate even layer count when placing your order.

PCB Qty

This is the number of single boards or panels you require.

For single-board designs, it is the number of single boards. For panelized designs, it is the number of panels. If you choose "Panel by JLCPCB", it is also the number of panels.

1. Choose from the available quantities on our website; custom quantities like 3pcs or 8pcs are not supported. If you need more than the maximum quantity offered on the website, please contact our support team for assistance.

2. For orders over 200 pieces, we advise prototyping your PCBs before starting small-batch production.

Product Type

In the aerospace and medical industries, strict product requirements are maintained to ensure the safety and security of all users. To ensure the product quality, the below options need to be chosen for aerospace and medical products.

1. For 2 layer boards, the "4-Wire Kelvin Test" option is required.

2. For 4 & 6 layer boards, the "4-Wire Kelvin Test" and "FR4 Tg155" options are required.

Delivery Format

The delivery format is the method in which you ask JLCPCB to produce and deliver your PCB design.

· Single PCB - Your design as is.

· Panel by Customer - You construct the PCB panel yourself and provide us the panelized data for PCB production.

· Panel by JLCPCB - We construct your panel with v-cut according to your need. (We only provide panelizing service for PCBs with regular shapes like rectangle and circle. For PCBs of irregular shapes, you need to panelize by yourself.)

PCB Thickness

The thickness of finished board. Board thickness tolerance is +/-10%.

Note:

1. For boards with a 0.40 mm thickness, we only accept an ENIG finish. These cannot be made with a panel and are not available for 1-layer PCBs.

2. For boards with a 0.60 mm thickness, the maximum PCB size is 100 mm x 100 mm. This thickness is not available for 1-layer, 4-layer, or 6-layer PCBs.

3. For boards with a 0.8 mm to 1.0 mm thickness, the maximum PCB size is 300 mm x 300 mm.

PCB Color

The PCB solder mask color. Solder mask is used to protect the copper traces of the PCB and ensures that the solder will only flow on the exposed pads.

The green standard has the best performance and fastest turnaround time. For most colors, the silkscreen is printed white. Only for white solder mask, the silkscreen is printed black.

Silkscreen

HASL is an affordable finishing option that utilizes tin/lead to creating a thin protective covering on a PCB.

The production is based on your Gerber files. If you choose Epoxy/Copper paste Filled & Capped, only untented vias ≤ 0.3mm will be filled with epoxy resin. For tented vias, only those ≤ 0.5mm will be filled. Please remark when

1. Untented vias between 0.3mm-0.5mm need to be filled.

2. Untented vias ≤ 0.3mm don't need to be filled.

3. Tented vias ≤ 0.5mm don't need to be filled.

4. Specific via sizes or areas that need to be filled or not filled.

5. Your Gerber includes a via plugging/filling layer.

Those pads corresponding to the vias will be made untented based on your design. It's recommended to leave a remark to indicate the specific via sizes or areas that need via filling, or remark when your Gerber includes a via plugging/filling layer. Min via hole size/diameter

The minimum via hole size and via diameter.

Via diameter should be 0.1mm(0.15mm preferred) larger than Via hole size.

e.g. when the via hole size is 0.2mm, the via diameter should be 0.3mm or 0.35mm.

Notice: Additional charges will apply when the via hole＜0.3mm and the via diameter≤0.4mm. No additional charge when the via hole≥0.3mm, and via diameter≥0.4mm.

e.g. additional charge is needed for 0.2mm hole/0.4mm diameter, while 0.3mm hole/0.40mm diameter is free. For multi-layer boards, if the via diameter≥0.45mm, the 0.2mm hole is also without an extra charge.

Mark on PCB

To ensure easy identification and to prevent your PCB from being mixed up with others, JLCPCB will assign an order number to your PCB.

If you want to put the order number in a specific location, please select the "Order Number (Specify Position)" option and indicate this location by adding the text "JLCJLCJLCJLC" to your silkscreen layer.

For enhanced PCB traceability, you also have the option to apply a 2D barcode serial number to each PCB. If this option is selected, the order number will be removed correspondingly. If this option is selected, the order number will be removed correspondingly.

If you would like to remove any mark including the order number and 2D barcode (Serial Number), please select the option "Remove Mark" below.

There is no service fee for both removing order number and 2D barcode (Serial Number). However, as this service is customizable, we recommend selecting the "Confirm Production File" option to avoid any mistakes.

Electrical Test

At JLCPCB, all PCBs undergo comprehensive AOI(Automated Optical Inspection) to ensure quality. AOI detects any breaks or imperfections in traces. PCBs tested with AOI achieve a quality rate of 99% or higher.

Flying Probe Test: This is the final checkpoint for circuit continuity. It can test for open and short circuits.

- Full Test: 100% pass rate, but is slower and incurs a fee due to it is time-consuming.

- Random Test: Free of charge, ensuring a minimum pass rate of 99%.

E-test Fixture: Provides rapid testing and is suitable for mass production, although it requires a high material cost.

Gold Fingers

Gold fingers are the gold-plated columns along the connecting edges of PCBs. Only when ENIG surface finish is chosen, the fingers will be gold-plated. If you choose HASL surface finish, we will use HASL as edge connect plating. Learn More
